6- The future of of VLSI by Ricardo Reis and L.M Silveira

7- Report about the preparation of APChDL00 by Jiang Shiping conference secretary

8- Policy of the group with regard to DATE by Jean Mermet

Some confusion was unnecessarily created about the position of the group as DATE sponsor at the level of 3%. But the related contract was duly signed by J.C. Laprie mandated by the president of IFIP last January. This will of course apply only for DATE 2001.IFIP must appoint a representative at the DATE sponsor group. Franz Rammig is nominated by the group and accept the principle of this duty

ACTION ITEM: Franz provide ASPA a letter signed by IFIP president appointing you as representative

9- Begining of a discussion about CHARME and FMCAD conferences and the idea of a SIG-FM in co-operation with other organisations.

A discussion was opened by mail by the organisers of FMCAD about the possible involvement of the 10.5 group in the steering of their event. But nothing was concluded. According to Luc this could go along with a SIG"formal" (SIG-CHARME?).

There is alternately CHARME in Europe and FMCAD in the USA every other year.

Some informal co-ordination exist. Luc wants to raise the issue again at the next FMCAD conference

ACTION ITEM: Luc, Ed, Dominique organise a meeting at FMCAD and report at next 10.5 meeting if any initiative concerns the group.

10- More generaly: Re-shaping the activity around SIGs. SIG-VHDL/DL, SIG-CODES, New SIGs (SIG-CHARME? SIG-SSDL?). Co-sponsorship by other organisations.

THIS POINT WAS OPEN AT THE MUNICH MEETING SIG-DIPES will be created in october by Franz Rammig. This SIG is a joint SIG of all TC10 WG. Their will be a report at next meeting.

SIG-CODES does not seem to be really active and very represenative of the growing community of embedded systems designers.

ACTION ITEM: Franz talk to them to see whether SIG-CODES could not become the 10.5 contribution to the new SIG-DIPES

11- Next meeting

Everybody thinks DATE 2001 is a must. A meeting in America will have to be set next.

12- A.O.B

The future of APChDL is quite questionable, based on very low attendance in 1999 and possibly artificial good attendance in 2000 (due to the very well organised world congress) But Matt, Jing-Yang and Kiyoung think that this conference is very useful for Asian people. They will therefore study with Australian interested parties (Sri, Adam please react!) how to boost the conference and organise next issue

ACTION ITEM: Matt, Kiyoung, Adam, Jing-Yang, please send your conclusion before the end of NOVEMBER 2000
