1. VLSI-SoC'2007 final report and book

General Chair, Vincent Mooney. 80 participants, 46 papers presented in two parallel sessions, 15 posters, a PhD forum, 3 keynote speakers (nanotech, DSP, EDA), 1 panel (SiP-SoC-SoP). It was presented a partial report sent by Vincent (ppt file is attached). Vincent will present a final report in the next WG meeting. Springer will publish a book with the best papers. Editors already received all extended versions of selected papers.

 

2. Report on VLSI-SoC'2008

General Chair, D.Soudris. VLSI-SoC'2008, which will be held in Rhodes Island, from October 13 to 15 (see web site). Program chairs will be Christian Piguet, from CSEM in Neuchatel, Switzerland, and Thanos Stouratis, from the University of Patras, Greece. Doudris told that the PC meeting will be on June 8th, in Athens. It was observed that this is the date of DAC 2008. Nikil Dutt proposes that the PC could be divided in topics to discuss the selection of papers.

 

3. VLSI-SoC'2009

VLSI-SoC'2009 will be organised in Brazil (14-16 October 2009, Florianopolis, Brazil)

GC Ricardo Reis, PC Juergen Becker. LC Jose Guntzel. The negotiations with hotels are on the way. There is two possible locations in the north of Florianopolis Island that were presented.

 

4. VLSI-SoC'2010

VLSI-SoC'2010 will be organised in Madrid (October 2010, GC David Atienza). David presented some information about the organization and location.

 

5. VLSI-SoC'2011 and beyond

VLSI-SoC'2011 could be organised in Asia. The call is open and it is expected to have a decision in the next VLSI SOC Conferences in Rhodes.

Action: Nikil Dutt will do the interface with the Embedded Systems Week to avoid possible collision of dates.

 

6. VLSI-SoC guidelines

Due to the lack of time, it was requested to the WG members to read carefully the draft version of the guidelines and to send their comments and observations in the next two weeks.

 

7. Next meeting

Next WG meeting will be held in Rhodes Island, on Sunday October 12th, from 3 pm to 7 pm, the day before the start of VLSI-SoC 2008, in the location of VLSI-SoC 2008. The main point in the agenda will be strategic issues.
