Status of the preparation of VLSI-SoC 2019 in Cuzco by Giovanni de Micheli

The organization is running smoothly.

Two special sessions are already under proposal.

3 invited speakers and other invited talks are already set.

Panel to be seen once all the submissions are in and the program is clarified.

It may be ideal to have Lima to Cuzco flight in the morning, since sometimes there are turbulences in the afternoon.

Memory of Understanding for VLSI-SoC 2019 is still under signing as part of multi-year MOU

Final data will be made available for the DAC meeting.

There is a demand to the General Chair to see if they will organize some additional social activities by the end of the conference, so that the participants can organize their trip.

Website of VLSI-SoC19:

Misses Special Sessions Call with the procedure to apply

         TPC is not yet online

TPC members did not receive any e-mail to submit papers and encourage participation

We need to send last publicity calls

Adk the General Chair to put the required information on line and encourage WG members to make submissions

Status of the preparation of VLSI-SoC 2020 in Salt Lake City by Andrea Calimera

The General Chair is arriving to DATE19 late in the evening

There are no specific news to mention.

Multi-year Memory of Understanding for VLSI-SoC which will cover 2019-2021 is still under singing.

Status of the preparation of VLSI-SoC 2021 in Singapore

Check that the general chair received the acceptance from IFIP (Chair of WG will send it).

There is a consensus that the timeframe of VLSI-SoC 2021 is in October instead of September.

Multi-year Memory of Understanding for VLSI-SoC which will cover 2019-2021 is still under singing

Future issues

Following the decisions of the WG in the meeting in Verona (VLSI-SoC18), the organizers of a proposal for VLSI-SoC21 in York were invited by the Steering Committee Chair to present a proposal for 2022. There was no answer to this invitation and they did not participate in the DATE19 meeting.

The WG Chair will send an e-mail to the WG in order to seek proposals for the organization of the conference in 2022, with a priority in Europe.

The minutes of the last meeting are missing online and this poses problems to know the status of the organization of the different events (now it is under processing).

WG Awards Committee

Three IFIP awards are now open:

(1) The IFIP Fellow Award, presented every year. IFIP's most prestigious technical distinction. Conferred to a current or past member of an IFIP body in recognition of outstanding contributions in the field of Information Processing as a Technical Leader, Scientist, Engineer or Educator.

The EC has decided to extend the deadline for nominations to June 15th, 2019.

Up to 48 Fellow awards may be made in 2019. The nomination process for Fellows is considerably more complex and time-consuming than for other awards so starting early is strongly recommended. As well as completing a nomination form you will need to collect forms completed by five referees and (optionally) one or two 'endorsers' and upload them all with the nomination form. Referees and endorsers need not be members of the GA. Proposers for Fellow also need not be GA members. Details of who may act as proposer, referee and endorser are given on the website.

We will do the same as last year for the nomination.

(2)   The Silver Core: Deadline for nominations is July 15th, 2019.

(3)   The Service Award: Deadline for nominations is July 15th, 2019.

IFIP Fellow: our last application failed over the website of IFIP (with the nomination of Ricardo Reis). We have complained about this.

Ricardo Reis suggests to have a WG Awards Committee to make nominations. The WG members should be asked to make nominations to be considered by the Awards Committee.

It is decided to have a WG Awards Committee formed by 3 persons: the WG Chair, an old member and a recent member.

The following people have committed to participate in this Committee:

       Masahiro Fujita/Working Group Chair

       Tziana Margaritta (old member)

       Graziano Pravadelli (recent member)

The WG Awards Committee will ask for nominations to the WG. Application to be done by June this year.

We can ask Dominique Borrione as chair of the Conference Service Award to make a proposal for the coming year.

Introduction of new member: Matteo Sonza-Reorda

Matteo Sonza-Reorda is a very well-known professor at Politecnico de Torino, Italy.

His research is in the area of system level test.

Matteo is already well implicated in the organization of VLSI-SoC and has been Program Co-chair in the past.

Next meeting

San Francisco, June 2019, in conjunction with DAC 2019.

Tuesday is the preferred date for the following expected participants: Fujita, Jerraya, Villar

(WG meeting at DAC has been fixed to Tuesday, June 4, 6-8pm)
