Minutes
of Austin meeting
The
minutes of the Austin meeting (June 2013, in conjunction with DAC) are
approved unanimously. These minutes are posted on the WG web site:

Acceptance
of Srinivas Katkoori as member of the WG
Srinivas
Katkoori
had received over 20 support messages from WG members.
He
had introduced himself at the Austin meeting.
His
acceptance
as member of the WG is voted unanimously.

- Venue of future VLSI-SoC events
Discussion
about
the selection of locations for VLSI-SoC’16 in addition to VLSI-SoC’15.
Ricardo Reis suggests voting also for the 2016 location. Salvador Mir
mentions that we should have a formal procedure for the presentation
and evaluation of proposals. Proposals for year N+2 should be
presented during year N.
There
are 4 applications for 2015 that are presented next:
I. Manfred Glesner presents the application for Tallin, Estonia, organized by Prof. Raimund Ubar and its team, including Thomas Hollstein who is familiar with VLSI-SoC. See slides here (High quality version).
II. Ji-Hoon Kim presents the application for Daejeon, South Korea, on behalf of the General Co-chairs (Naehyuch Chang, Kiyoung Choi, both Professors in Seoul National University, South Korea). VLSI-SoC would be collocated with the IFIP World Computer Congress. See slides here.
III. Ozgur Sinanoglu presents the application for Abu Dhabi, UAE, organized by himself (New York Abu Dhabi University) and Ayse Coskun (Boston University). See slides here.
IV.
Luc
Claesen presents the application for Hangzhou, China. Zhejiang Univ.
Hangzhou (Top 3 universities in China). Conference chaired by Prof.
Yan Xiaolang.
An
indication vote takes place (secret). Each of the 10 WG members that
participate in the meeting is allowed to vote. Results: 3 votes each
for Abu Dhabi, Daejeon and Tallin, and 1 vote for Hangzhou. The
discussion is postponed until lunch time of October 8, when the WG
members meet and vote again.
After
elaboration
of criteria to evaluate the proposals, and extensive discussion, the
final decision on October 8 is the selection of Daejeon, South Korea for VLSI-SOC
2015.
5- Update on VLSI-SoC 2014

participants to the TPC meeting have been invited to join this last
part of the WG meeting.
The
Call for Papers is distributed to the participants of the meeting, and
of VLSI-SOC 2013.
